John has been a Registered Nurse for over 25 years. Much of his background involves the care of trauma and emergency patients in the hospital setting, as well as the air, as a Flight Nurse. While previous employment has been in Milwaukee, Las Vegas, and Houston, the majority of John’s work has been within multiple hospitals in the Phoenix metropolitan area. He has teaching experience serving as faculty for multiple Master’s Entry Nursing programs to include The University of Arizona College of Nursing and Alverno College of Nursing. In both programs John has provided expertise in the lab, clinical setting, simulation, and as a Lecturer. Whether teaching or creating curriculum, John is honored to educate our next generation of nurses.
Outside of the hospital and classroom settings, John’s community work includes volunteering with AZDHS (Arizona Department of Health Services) on the Maricopa County Child Fatality Review Program, and the Mayor’s Task Force for Human Trafficking (City of Phoenix). He remains active within the ENA, serving as the Chair of Government Affairs/Advocacy of the Arizona State Council, as well as an Arizona Delegate. His work to educate politicians about nursing-related issues on a National, level has resulted in multiple trips to Washington, DC. His local interaction includes speaking with politicians at the Arizona State Capitol and providing testimony in favor of Legislation to protect healthcare workers from being assaulted (which recently passed).
John enjoys sharing his experiences about the awesome field of nursing and remains excited about the array of opportunity that exists within this profession.
